Whenever you kill an enemy, it flashes briefly Fair, Good, Excellent, or Perfect. You earn experience points that you can use to purchase combos that deal more damage. You can play thru all the scenes and strive to attain better ratings with all 3 characters. And then you get to fight thru all the scenes in the upcoming Two Towers.The replay value is high, too. You play thru a lot of fight scenes from The Fellowship of the Ring – the Ringwraiths on Amon Hen, the Kraken, the Mines of Moria and the Cave troll, the Uruk-Hai on the bank of the river. This game is pure hack n’ slash action – you can choose to be either Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli (I like Gimli).

This game has killer graphics combined with voice-acting straight from the movie, as well as fun and frustrating addictive gameplay. If you are a Lord of The Rings fan – you need to experience this aging game.EA has done an outstanding job of porting the movie over to a video game. It’s faithful to it’s source and it’s one of the best franchise games that has ever existed. The Two Towers is a fantastically presented game which features well executed traditional action and a terrific gameplay system system which encourages you to fight like hell when surrounded by powerful enemies. The music contains some fantastic moody ominous tracks which quickly ramp up to a swelling orchestral score as the in game action kicks in. The Two Towers also features the powerfully evocative soundtrack from the film as well as some tracks that were originally meant for the film but were left on the cutting room floor. The game also contains interesting unlockable features, including a survival mode and interviews with the cast, production art and making of features.
Of course there’s always the temptation to play through the game again as the other characters and level their stats and combos up. There’s also an incredible amount to unlock in this game, it’s not a long game – experienced players will take 5 hours to play through it. The environments are detailed and faithful to their cinematic equivalents. The character models for the heroes and the monsters are incredibly well presented and impressively animated. In fact the whole game is a visual spectacle, when there’s multiple enemies on screen there is also little to no slow down. There’s also some amazing boss fights which look incredible. The action moves incredibly quickly, with multiple enemies attacking from all angles but the game’s targeting system helps you juggle between foes. There’s a combo system, if you strike enough enemies in a row your attack strength increases. The Two Towers features a strong mixture of upgradable attacks – quick attacks are fantastic against opponents without shields and the Fierce attack which is necessary against the enemies who have. Some of the levels are short – playing through the moments where Frodo is threatened by the Shadow Wraiths lasts a few minutes and others seem to last forever throwing countless enemies at you – exhausting your thumbs. The action comprises of 11 levels comprised of the main scenes from both films. You begin to play the game thrown into the battle at the beginning of The Fellowship Of The Ring, this is a tutorial level which teaches the basic control system.įrom here on in, the game gives you the choice of playing as the main characters of the film – Aragorn the Ranger, Legolas the Elven Archer and Gimil – the Dwarven Fighter. The game opens with the video sequence which opened the first movie laying down the explanation of the various races and the creation of the Ring. With no previous game from EA in this genre, this is a bit of a bonus, instead of just being associated with the then current film, it attempts to tell a congruent narrative. This game takes place during the first and second film, in fact the entire first half of the game is based on events from the first film. This is a wonderfully fluid and accurate depiction of the film that it’s based on. It may feature the same mechanics as Capcom’s excellent hack and slash title, but it manages to create a unique atmosphere and feel. Electronic Arts crafted a superb game from what is basically a Devil May Cry clone.

This blockbuster was a full on action game, with fun game mechanics, stunning visuals (for the time) and a plethora of extras.
There’s no film franchise which fitted the action game genre than the Lord of the Ring film franchise.
